When you eat you use energy present in the chemical bonds in the food to create ATP which is the “energy currency” of your body. When the bonds are broken it is an overall exothermic or energy releasing process, this is used in the electron transport chain in every cell of your body to make ATP which is then used to drive other endothermic (energy demanding ) biochemical processes in your body.
