  No i don’t think so. Science is a field that relies on strong collaborations, there are lots of excellent universities in scotland, as long as they are still happy to work with english universities then i am sure the effect will be minimal.
  
  With regards funding bodies, it may become less competitive if there are english/scottish only fellowship or grant applications. However, this is always difficult so as long as good science is still being funded that is what counts.
