I use metal oxide, such as cuprous oxide, as “leaf” to capture light.
In order to check how good they capture/absorb visible light, I need to characterize their optical properties, which is one of the important physical experiments in my research. The wavelength range of visible light is about 400 nm to 800 nm, and to well use the sunlight, the metal oxide should absorb as much light in this range as possible. Normally, this experiment is carried out using UV-vis spectrometer.
