When I was at school I really liked Chemistry and Physics – both very enjoyable and very useful! I found Chemistry most interesting and studied it at university, which was great fun!

Now I work with Chemistry and Physics all the time.

In my spare time I really like biology, especially marine biology. I do a lot of diving and volunteer as a marine biologist to study fish and reefs around the world.

(I used to volunteer at an aqauarium in the UK where my job was to feed the Sharks!).

So I LOVE all 3 sciences – all great fun!!

I love chemistry as we can use it to create one compound from completely starting material using the basic chemistry principles. It is like cooking, you need to know what you need to add to make your food delicious..

I’m a photochemist and I work in solar energy so whilst I’ve always preferred chemistry my research involves a bit of chemistry a bit of physics and a little materials science. However, I would always refer to myself as a chemist.

I liked all sciences when I was in school, but ultimately I was better at Chemistry. Biology was more book-learning and memorising stuff (something I’m not great with) and physics was more to do with understanding and applying abstract theorem. Chemistry, for me, was the best because I could visualise what happened to the compounds. It made sense to me.

It’s a very good science because it teaches you how material acts towards other materials, and how it changes depending on it’s environment. If you want to go into something like materials science, then chemistry is definitely for you.

It has got to be chemistry, with biology a close second.

Which one do you find most interesting? Why?
